(I know this will restart the cycle, but I know how/have a plan to deal with that portion of it) The decor and plants I know how to do, but I’m not sure what to do with the sponge filter. Well I treated the tank using the heat method, there’s one fish remaining after the full treatment (there weren’t many to begin with) and so before I do anything else with the tank, I’d like to clean everything in it. If so, how could I?įilter 2: this sponge filter was in a (newer) tank that came down with ich (I didn’t quarantine the fish because the whole tank was new, not adding to an existing community, sue me). Should I clean this? The algae thing is getting annoying. ![]() I even tried moving it to another tank in a different location, to confirm the algae growth was caused by the sponge filter not the tank/water itself, and it is. Sponge filter 1: there was an algae bloom in a tank it was in (too much sun), I cleaned up the bloom manually, gave it a rinse (in tank water from a wc) but it seems some part of the algae remains in the sponge filter, it keep regrowing, on the filter first then spreading. I know typically the answer is no because of beneficial bacteria, but here’s the situation: ![]() I’ve got two sponge filters I think I may want to clean, but I’m not sure how or if I should.
